Heliodor Pendant

Heliodor – is an enchanting gemstone, a bright yellow to golden-yellow variety of the mineral beryl (a beryllium aluminum cyclosilicate). Its name, derived from the Greek words 'helios' (sun) and 'doron' (gift), perfectly describes its sunny coloration, ranging from delicate lemon-yellow to rich honey-gold. This warm hue is typically caused by trace iron impurities within its crystal structure.

Heliodor is highly valued for its excellent transparency, attractive color, and vibrant vitreous luster. Gem-quality stones often exhibit high clarity (few inclusions), allowing for exquisite faceted cuts that beautifully showcase its play of light and depth of hue. While not as widely known as its famous beryl relatives – emerald (green) and aquamarine (blue) – heliodor is a valuable and desirable gemstone in its own right, captivating collectors and jewelry connoisseurs with its unique sunny glow. Significant heliodor deposits are found in Brazil, Namibia, Madagascar, Pakistan, and also in Ukraine (notably the world-renowned Volyn deposit).

It's worth noting that some pale or colorless beryls may be irradiated to enhance or produce yellow color; natural, richly colored stones without treatment are the most highly prized. Thanks to its notable hardness and beauty, heliodor is an excellent choice for a variety of jewelry pieces – rings, pendants, earrings, and bracelets, adding a warm, sunny accent to any look.
