4400 UAHDumortierite is a fascinating and relatively rare borosilicate mineral named after the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier, who first described it in the 19th century.
It is highly prized by collectors and jewelers for its rich shades of blue, ranging from sky blue to deep indigo and violet-blue, although pink and brown specimens are occasionally found. The mineral often forms fibrous or radiating aggregates, giving it a unique texture.
Dumortierite forms primarily in aluminum-rich metamorphic rocks such as gneisses and schists, as well as in some pegmatites, often under conditions of high temperature and pressure. Due to its high hardness (7 on the Mohs scale), dumortierite is quite resistant to scratches, making it suitable for use in jewelry, although its brittleness requires careful handling.
Specimens with a "cat's eye" effect (chateau-yancy) are particularly attractive, where a silky streak of light shimmers across the surface of the stone when it is rotated. This effect is best seen in cabochon cutting. Its unique color, rarity, and sometimes optical effect make dumortierite a desirable addition to mineralogical collections and an exquisite material for creating original jewelry.
Quartz is an extremely common and at the same time surprisingly diverse mineral, the basis of which is silicon dioxide (SiO₂). It is one of the key minerals of the earth's crust, captivating with its beauty and properties.

Quartz crystals form in a variety of geological settings - from igneous and metamorphic rocks to hydrothermal veins, and are found almost all over the world. This makes it accessible and at the same time endlessly interesting for collectors. In addition to its aesthetic value, quartz has important practical importance. Its piezoelectric properties are used in precision electronics, in particular, in quartz watches and resonators. It is also a raw material for the production of glass, ceramics and abrasive materials.
