Сережки з геміморфітами

Hemimorphite is an interesting mineral, a hydrated zinc silicate, often striking in its cluster-like (botryoidal), stalactite forms or crystalline crusts. Its delicate shades, ranging from sky blue and blue-green to white and colorless, are most prized.

The name 'hemimorphite' comes from the unique property of its crystals having different terminations at opposite ends (hemimorphism), which also accounts for its pyroelectric and piezoelectric properties.

Due to its attractive colors and unusual aggregate shapes, such as fan-shaped druses or spherulites, hemimorphite is a desirable object for mineral collectors and is sometimes used to make small cabochons or as an ornamental stone.
