Кулон з бірюзою

Turquoise is one of the earliest gemstones cherished by humanity, known for its unique color spectrum ranging from vibrant sky-blue to deep blue-green and apple-green. This distinctive hue results from the presence of copper (for blue) and iron (for green) in the composition of this hydrated copper and aluminum phosphate.

The stone often features characteristic veins or rock patterns, known as a matrix, which can add individuality and value. Historically, turquoise was highly prized by ancient Egyptians, Persians, Aztecs, and Native Americans, who used it not only for crafting exquisite jewelry but also as a talisman and in ritualistic objects. The most renowned deposits of quality turquoise are found in Iran (historically Persia), the southwestern USA (Arizona, Nevada), China, Chile, and Mexico.

Turquoise forms in secondary deposits in arid conditions, where copper-bearing waters react with minerals containing phosphorus and aluminum. Today, turquoise remains a sought-after stone in jewelry, particularly for ethnic, boho, and classic designs. It is used for rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.

It is important to remember that turquoise is a relatively soft and porous mineral, requiring careful handling and protection from chemicals, high temperatures, and scratches. Turquoise captivates collectors and connoisseurs with its natural beauty, centuries-old history, and vibrant, cheerful color, making it an enduring symbol of elegance and sophistication.
