21000 UAHUvarovite is a rare and highly prized mineral of the garnet group, known for its rich, bright green color, reminiscent of emerald. This unique shade is due to the high chromium content in its composition, which makes uvarovite the brightest green representative of the garnet family.
First described in 1832 and named after Sergei Uvarov, this mineral is a calcium-chromium silicate. Uvarovite is most often found in the form of small, well-formed crystals of cubic syngony (not orthorhombic, as erroneously indicated in the previous description), forming spectacular druses (brushes) on the parent rock (matrix). Large crystals of jewelry quality are extremely rare. Due to its beauty, rarity and intense green color, uvarovite is highly prized by mineral collectors worldwide. Its brilliant crystals look great as independent specimens, demonstrating the natural perfection of crystal form and color. Although large clear crystals are extremely rare, small clusters or individual crystals are sometimes used in exclusive jewelry, where their unique color and luster can be properly appreciated. Its hardness allows it to be used in jewelry, but careful wearing is recommended.
Uvarovite is a real treasure for connoisseurs of natural beauty and rare minerals, adding sophistication to any collection or jewelry piece.
