Larimar Ring

Larimar is an exceptionally rare blue variety of the mineral pectolite, mined in only one place on Earth: the Dominican Republic. Also known as the "Caribbean Gem" or "Dolphin Stone," it was officially discovered (or rediscovered) in 1974 by Miguel Méndez. The stone's name is a combination of his daughter Larissa's name and the Spanish word "mar" (sea), perfectly describing its captivating beauty.

Larimar's unique coloration ranges from soft blue and sky-blue to rich turquoise, often with white streaks and patterns reminiscent of sunlight reflecting on the Caribbean Sea or clouds in a summer sky. This distinctive blue color is due to the substitution of calcium by copper in the pectolite's crystal structure. Valued for its exceptional beauty and rarity, Larimar is highly sought after by jewelers and collectors.

It is typically cut into smooth cabochons, beads, or polished into freeform shapes to best showcase its intricate patterns and play of color.
