Indigolite is a beautiful blue variety of the mineral tourmaline, a member of the large borosilicate group. It is known for its rich shades ranging from deep indigo blue to bright blue-green. Its deep color can sometimes resemble aquamarine or the famous Paraiba tourmaline, but indigolite has its own unique character and beauty.

The name "indigolite" comes from the color indigo, which accurately conveys the characteristic blue hue of this gemstone. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, tourmaline exhibits interesting physical properties, such as piezoelectric and pyroelectric effects - the ability to generate an electric charge when subjected to mechanical pressure or temperature changes.
