Grossular

Grossular is a calcium-aluminum silicate, a representative of a large group of garnets, striking with its amazing variety of colors. The palette of grossular includes green, yellow, brown, orange, pink, reddish and even colorless specimens. The most famous and valuable jewelry varieties are:

• Tsavorite: A rare and highly valued bright green garnet, often not inferior in beauty to emerald. Its color is due to impurities of vanadium or chromium.
• Hessonite: Known as the "cinnamon stone" because of its warm honey-yellow, orange or reddish-brown shades. Often has characteristic internal inclusions that create a "honey" or "syrupy" effect.
